North Tahoe Snowboarding
North Tahoe offers some great locations if you're wondering where to go snowboarding in Tahoe. With locations in both California and Nevada, the north side has something for you!
- Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe: Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is on the Nevada side of the mountains. Only 25 minutes from Reno, this is a great choice if you're staying in that area. This resort is also a great choice for beginners. There are plenty of green runs and bunny hills for the first timers, but also more challenging runs for more experienced snowboards and skiers. This also makes Mt. Rose great for the family. Don't forget about the famous Chutes at Mt. Rose. The Chutes have some of the longest continuous vertical in North America!
- Sugar Bowl Ski Resort: Sugar Bowl Ski Resort has more challenging slopes than Mt. Rose, making it less ideal for kids and beginners and better for more experienced riders. That's not to say that beginners shouldn't go though! There are several beginner routes and of course lessons are available. One of the best things about Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is that there is rarely any huge lines or extensive wait times. Snowboarding in Tahoe is much more enjoyable when you can just hop on runs as opposed to waiting long times for your chance.

- Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort: Located in South Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort is a smaller, cozier and less expensive option out of the Lake Tahoe resorts. With long runs and cheap lift tickets, this Lake Tahoe snowboarding and skiing resort is definitely a great option for the family or for experienced riders. Sierra-at-Tahoe also has the nationally recognized Superpipe for all you tricksters out there. And last but definitely not least, don't forget to check out the Burton Star Wars Experience where your children ages 3-6 can learn to ride with the force!
- Heavenly Mountain Resort: Heavenely Mountain Resort, while a little costly, has plenty of options for both skiiers and snowboarders. With slopes on both the Nevada and California side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, it's impossible to not find lines that you'll enjoy riding. One of the best things about Heavenly are the views. At the top of the mountain, you'll get an amazing view of Lake Tahoe that can't be beat! And if you're on the Nevada side, you'll be treated to an entirely different view: the dry redness of the Nevada desert.
