Homewood Mountain Ski Resort
North & West Shore (CA)
- Type Skiing & Boarding
- Region North & West Shore (CA)
Summary
Features: Homewood Mountain Resort combines breathtakingly beautiful views with open runs and uncrowded slopes to form one of the best straight-forward skiing or snowboarding experience in all of Lake Tahoe.
Why We Go: Unlike some of the more overdeveloped mega-resorts in Tahoe, Homewood Mountain Resort keeps things simple and more affordable. They just might be one of the best hidden secrets in Tahoe.
- Spectacular Views: Many ski resorts have some distant view of Lake Tahoe, but few are right up against it like Homewood Mountain Resort.
- Affordable Prices: Homewood offers Learn to Ski/Ride packages for just $44 through February 14. These packages include a 2.5 hour lesson for beginners, beginner lift ticket and a full day of equipment rentals. Already know the ropes? Head to Homewood on Value Days and lift tickets are only $44. These are some of the lowest prices in all of Lake Tahoe.
- Easy Navigation: Although there are enough skiable acres to satisfy even the best skiers for a weekend, things aren't so big that you will get lost. Everything related to navigation should be relatively simple; just watch out for the signs!
Inside Knowledge: For those who have children too young to really enjoy skiing or boarding, the Family Snow Play Area allows guests to bring their own soft-plastic sleds for a $10 per day access fee.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Bring Your Camera: The view at the top of the highest chair lift is arguably the best view in all of Lake Tahoe. This cannot be stated enough!
- Do Rideshare to Homewood: For those looking to ski Homewood Mountain on a day trip from the Bay Area, several rideshare/carpool arrangements can be made through Ridejoy.
- Don't Bypass Lessons: Although they may seem slightly expensive, taking lessons will markedly improve the rest of your experience at Homewood. Learn to ski or snowboard for just $44 at Homewood Ski Resort!
- Don't Try to Park too Close: The minimal parking available next to the resort can prove to be a problem, so either arrive early, carpool, or take one of the shuttles.
