Winter is in full effect this February, and all of the ski resorts in Lake Tahoe are keeping people coming back from more every weekend. But people aren't just coming back for the snowy slopes right now, there are tons of things to do in Lake Tahoe other than skiing.

On February 8, 2013, Lewis Black is performing his stand-up comedy show at the Silver Legacy Resort.
Carve Tahoe - Northstar California
Starting this Friday, Northstar California Resort is hosting an international snow sculpture competition! From Febraury 8 - 12, 2013, eight teams are going to be competing to transform 20-ton blocks of snow into a pure work of art. Teams will be competing from Canada, Finland, Germany, Japan and areas throughout the United States. Fans are invited to vote for their favorite carvings, and the winners will receive the Avalanche Award and Snowflake Award, but there is also a panel of judges that will be voting to determine the real winners. One of the most famous judges will be Lawrence Noble, award-winning sculptor and illustrator and Chairmen of the Sculpture department at the Academny of Art University.
Lake Tahoe Nordic Festival
From Friday, February 8 through Sunday, Tahoe is hosting the first annual Lake Tahoe Nordic Festival! Expect Beginner Classic Skiin Clinics, a Guided Snowshoe Run, a Kids XC Ski Program, a Women's Skate Skiing Clinic, gear giveaways and more!
Helly Hansen Big Mountain Battle - Squaw Valley
February 9, 2013. For the fourth year, Squaw Valley is hosting the Helly Hensen Big Mountain Battle. Teams are competing for the winning title, taking on the steeps, chutes and cliffs at Squaw Valley. It's $80 for a team of 2 and $40 per person and you can still register online!
Nachtspektakel - Squaw Valley
In addition to their Big Mountain Battle, Squaw Valley is also hosting a European-style ski tour that combines skiing, beer and food. On February 9, you can tour uphill at Squaw with other ski and beer enthusiasts and celebrate the rest of winter. Mardi Gras accessories are highly encouraged!
Slide Back Retro Ski Party - Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe
Put on your brightest colors and stretchiest clothes to relive the 60s, 70s, 80s, or a little of each. Sport your favorite outfits on the slopes, and be sure you're there to compete in the "Fashion or Fad" contest at noon on Febraury 9, 2013.
Rahlve's Banzai Tour - Alpine Meadows
One last event this Saturday is the qualifier and after party/High Fives Fundraiser for the Banzai Tour. The after party is going to be at the Last Chari Bar, featuring live music by DJ Silver Boombox Thief, drink specials and a raffle for the High Fives Foundation. Don't enjoy those drink specials too much though, because at 10:45am on Sunday, February 10, the Banzai Final begins.
