Summer is in full swing in Lake Tahoe and this weekend promises something fun for almost everybody. From a challenging outdoor obstacle course to a quirky race with rubber duckies, be sure to grab some sunblock, a group of friends and head outdoors this weekend.
Here’s a rundown of some of the fun festivities happening around the Lake this weekend.
- 5K Foam Fest: Get ready to get dirty at the 5K Foam Fest June 9th in Reno. The 5K Foam Fest is a mixture of soap, water, mud and wacky obstacle courses. Bring an old pair of sneakers, extra clothes and a group of family and friends to join in on the fun with you. Some of the obstacles you can expect to find are hay hurdles, five ft. walls, a muddy bottomless trench, balance beams, bungee trip wires, a spider web forrest and the largest, most awesome Slip ‘n Slide ever! The best part about it? Participants who finish the mud race can cool off afterwards with free beer!
- Moonlight Mojito Contest: Do you think you make the best mojito? Are you a veteran mojito drinker? Than you may like the Moonlight Mojito Contest happening at the West Shore Café this Saturday. Patrons are invited to taste and vote for the top 10 mojito recipes submitted by the public. The winner of the contest will receive a Homewood season pass, a two-night stay at the West Shore Café and a $100 restaurant gift card. The winning mojito will also be featured on the menu as the “signature summer cocktail.”
- Truckee Duckee Derbee: Bring the whole family down to River Ranch Lodge for the 9th annual Truckee Duckee Derbee. The race begins at 1pm on Sunday and rubber ducks can be purchased before the derby for $10 each. There will be prize and cash raffles, live music, a barbecue and drink specials. Also, if you enjoy dressing up your pooch, don’t forget to bring your dog and enter them into the “Dogz In Dudz” costume contest. All proceeds from the Truckee Duckee Derbee go to benefit the Truckee-Tahoe Humane Society.
- Breathe Into Bliss: Come out to this Truckee wellness event beginning at noon this Sunday for a day of blissful relaxation. The event promotes healthy lifestyle choices and will include presentations about yoga, meditation, Chinese medicine, energy balancing, the nutritional benefits of tea and how to build healthy relationships. Along with live music and dance performances, guests will also be able to participate in yoga, meditation and hot pilates classes. There will be a host of local vendors, food trucks, holistic health professionals, artists, original artwork and photography, handmade jewelry and clothing, organic soaps, creams and much more! Tickets for Breathe Into Bliss are $15 each.
