A Gem Tucked Away in the Mountains
The Resort at Squaw Creek is a fabulous place to stay! It almost looks like some secret castle or something hidden in the mountains when you drive up to it. It’s big, luxurious and super trendy. In the hotel, there are really nice shops and restaurants. There is even an ice skating rink there during the winter. But the best thing about it is that it’s literally right next to the Squaw ski lifts. So you can just walk right on over to the lift with your skis, and then you can just ski down the mountain right up to your hotel. That’s a really big perk! It’s great for when you want to have a break mid-day. But if you do plan on skiing or snowboarding, it is a good thing to note that for the most part, this mountain is for more advanced skiers. So it wouldn’t be a good place to take a family and teach your kids to ski. If you’re a beginner, it’s not a fun mountain, but if you’re good then it’s perfect. I’m a really good skier and in my opinion Squaw is the best skiing in Lake Tahoe. After all, this is where the Tahoe Olympics were held!
They really make it so you don’t have to leave the hotel. And that’s important because Squaw is a little far from the rest of the fun things to do in Lake Tahoe. You definitely need a car if you’re staying here. You have to drive to get to just about anywhere else in Tahoe, including the lake or other ski resorts. But if you just plan on hanging out here, and having a nice relaxing weekend just in Squaw, then this place is perfect. Or if you don’t mind driving places then it’s nice too. It’s a little pricey, but if you can afford it, then I’d highly recommend it!
